Sunday 11, Feast of the Baptism of the Lord. The Mass will be presided over by Bishop Giuseppe
On Sunday, January 11, the community of Santa Maria Maggiore will experience a moment of particular spiritual intensity on the occasion of the Feast of the Baptism of the Lord, which concludes the liturgical season of Christmas and recalls the very heart of the Christian faith: the gift of new life in Christ.
At 10:30 a.m., at the historic Paleochristian Baptistery of Santa Maria Maggiore, Bishop Giuseppe will preside over the Holy Mass with the rite of baptisms, highlighting the profound connection between Jesus’ Baptism in the Jordan and the Baptism that every Christian has received as their entry into the ecclesial community.
The celebration, set in a context of great historical and artistic value, will offer the faithful the opportunity to rediscover the meaning of Baptism as a source of faith, hope, and spiritual renewal.
The Paleochristian Baptistery, a symbolic place of the origins of the local Church, thus remains a privileged space for memory, prayer, and continuity between the past and the present.
At the end of the Eucharistic celebration, the Bishop will unveil a marble plaque placed in the antiquarium, in memory of the Jubilee Year experienced at the Baptistery. A concrete and lasting sign that aims to preserve the memory of the journey of grace, pilgrimages, and prayer that characterized the Jubilee experience, leaving a visible trace for future generations.
The entire community is invited to participate in this moment of faith and communion, which unites liturgical celebration, the enhancement of ecclesiastical heritage, and gratitude for the gifts received during the time of the Jubilee.
