Over the centuries, many notable figures have admired the beauty of this millennial monument.

King Ferdinand II of Bourbon, who often visited nearby Nocera Inferiore to inspect the important military garrison there, once visited the Baptistery alone. On August 29, 1857, he returned accompanied by his second wife, Maria Theresa of Austria, and his large royal family.

In 1964, the Swedish Royals, King Gustaf VI Adolf and Queen Louise Alexandra Maria Irene Mountbatten, visited the paleochristian baptistery of Nocera Superiore. This historic visit took place on October 12 or 13 of that year. The king loved Italy, Campania, and archaeology, and, as a connoisseur, he wanted to admire the columns, marble, and frescoes of what was then a semi-abandoned building.

On October 24, 2023, Minister of Culture Gennaro Sangiuliano was welcomed by Bishop Giuseppe Giudice at the Baptistery of Santa Maria Maggiore. During the visit, he emphasized the importance of this monument as a testament to the diverse cultures that have influenced the culture and architecture of the Campania Region.
